RACE REPORT - WEEK 34

21 - 27 august

We’ve got a World Champion!

We’ve got a world champion in our ranks! Maggie Coles-Lyster of our Lares-Waowdeals Development team became the new Women Junior World Champion of the points race (track)! This was the ultimate reward after grabbing the silver medal in the Omnium race earlier on. She also finished fifth in the team pursuit and seventh in the Madison event.

Shari Bossuyt also participated. She finished 10th in the scratch event, after escaping from the peloton with five laps to go and getting caught again in the last lap. Unfortunately, she crashed during one of the Omnium races and had to abandon the race.

Thalita wins at Nederhasselt

On Saturday, Thalita de Jong won the race at Nederhasselt. After 20 km, she got away with 6 other riders. Their advantage grew towards 2 minutes, so they could sprint for the victory. Thalita showed her fast legs and won the sprint! Just like last week, our waowgirls put down a strong performance with Saartje Vandenbroucke finishing 9th, Bryony van Velzen 12th, Sarah Inghelbrecht 13th, Noa Jansen of our Lares-Waowdeals Development team 20th, Tara Gins 21st, Daniela Reis 29th, Mieke Docx 33rd, Ditte Lenseclaes 76th and Lotte van Hoek 87th!

One day later, two of our girls also participated in the regional race at Berlare (uitbergen). Mieke Docx was our top finisher in 20th place and Tara Gins crossed the finish line in 26th position.
