Sarah Inghelbrecht 9th at Boezinge

On Monday, the first of a series of post-tour criteriums took place at Boezinge, a great race that was a new addition to the calendar. Sarah Inghelbrecht was there to defend our teamcolors and did an excellent job. The riders had to complete 40 laps of 1,7 km. About halfway through the race, everything came back together and a few laps later, three new riders managed to break away from the peloton. They got an advantage of 45 seconds, but in the last laps the peloton raced hard and almost caught up with them. At the end, the three had just enough time left to sprint for the win themselves. Eight seconds later, Sarah Inghelbrecht crossed the finish line inside the peloton, leaving her in 9th position.

Third and fourth in Bambrugge

On Friday evening, our Waowgirls were present at the regional race of Bambrugge. 102 riders participated in the 90km long race, which started in dry conditions but quickly changed into a rainy race. The result: a tough race with less than half of the participants crossing the finish.

The peloton stayed together until they’d completed five laps. Then there was a break away of three riders, with Saartje Vandenbroucke being one of them. They got an advantage of over a minute. Still, the peloton closed the gap again. One rider still managed to escape during the last lap. She got an advantage of about 30 meters and won the race. Sarah Inghelbrecht sprinted to third place, closely followed by Monique van de Ree who finished fourth. Maggie Coles-Lyster of our development team finished 18th, Mieke Docx 22nd and Saartje Vandenbroucke 35th.

Monique wins again at Ninove!

Just like last year, Monique van de Ree won the post-tour criterium at Ninove! During this last edition, she attacked with three other riders with 30 of the 35 laps to go. Thanks to a good understanding in the break away and the perfect work of our other Waowgirls, they soon got an advantage of over one minute. Due to the small laps, the peloton could be lapped, which meant they had to leave the race ten laps earlier. They sprinted for fifth place, and Sarah Inghelbrecht won this sprint. Maggie Coles-Lyster finished eight, Mieke Docx 15th and Tara Gins 18th.

Al that was left on the course were the four girls in the break away. They stayed together and had to sprint for victory. Monique showed her great sprinting skills and won the race with ease.
